Zambian Breweries Boosts Local Supplier Value Chain

Zambian Breweries, has reiterated its dedication to meeting consumer demands while providing growth opportunities for its suppliers at its recent Supplier Day. 


The event brought together stakeholders from its supplier network, underscoring the company’s commitment to collaboration and mutual success. 


“Zambian Breweries’ commitment to meeting the evolving demands of our consumers, entails that our suppliers also benefit from our growth strategy,” remarked Zambian Breweries Country Director Michelle Kilpin during her address at the event. 


“Our $80m capacity expansion plan presents exciting prospects for our suppliers to thrive alongside us. We genuinely value their contributions and recognise the integral role they play in our ongoing success – it is through our supplier’s provision of quality raw materials that we are able to brew some of Zambia’s favourite beers.”  


Ms Kilpin urged all suppliers to continue their partnership with Zambian Breweries while upholding the highest standards or product quality and adhering to responsible sourcing principles.  


She also highlighted the company’s innovative initiatives implemented to ensure a seamless experience for their suppliers, aiming to establish a mutually beneficial collaboration. 


Ms Kiplin stated: “We have developed cutting-edge apps that provide real-time visibility into our supply chain, enabling suppliers to tract monitor inventory and streamline communication. We are deeply committed to creating an environment that supports our suppliers’ success.” 


Also present at the event was ABInBev Business Unit South – East Africa Procurement and Sustainability Director Jacques Els, who emphasised the importance of maintaining a harmonious relationship with suppliers, placing a strong emphasis on effective communication as a fundamental element in achieving shared success. 


Meanwhile, Zambian Breweries Head of Procurement Simon Nyondo, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to localised sourcing, stating: “Our dedication to local sourcing remains unwavering. We are proud that majority of our raw materials, such as malt barley, cassava, maize and sorghum, are locally obtained from smallholder farmers across the country. This not only supports the growth of the Zambian economy but also promotes sustainability and empowers local communities.” 


Zambian Breweries’ Supplier Day served as a platform to celebrate the invaluable contributions of suppliers while reinforcing the company’s vision of sustainable growth and collaboration. The event provided an opportunity for exchange of ideas and insights into the brewing giant’s future growth plans. 
By prioritising consumer demands, maintaining open communication channels and emphasisng responsible sourcing, Zambian Breweries continues to be a frontrunner in the local beer industry, driving positive change towards a future with more cheers.
