Zambian Breweries has backed the Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) ‘Proudly Zambian’ campaign to enhance the competitiveness of locally produced goods in the domestic, regional, and global markets.
“We must ask every Zambian to make a conscious decision to buy local goods,” said Zambian Breweries Corporate Affairs Director Ezekiel Sekele.
“Our message must be that wherever you may be in the country, be proudly Zambian. Wear local, travel local, eat local, watch local content, read local authors, support local music, and use local raw materials in your businesses. Proudly Zambian must move beyond being a campaign.”
As one of the founding members of ZAM, Zambian Breweries has over the years committed to producing products such as Mosi and Eagle lager, which carry the identity and emblem of Zambia across the country and in the region, said Mr Sekele.
Mr Sekele further said Zambian Breweries remained a vital part of Zambian society through its contribution to the local economy, and that backing the Proudly Zambian campaign when the economy is reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic highlights the company’s commitment.
“We have to save existing jobs and stimulate the economy for new ones to be created,” he said. “Whether public or private, we need to appreciate that choosing to procure locally through and across value chains is a solid investment in our economic recovery.”
Mr Sekele noted that growing the economy and putting it back on the road to recovery was something to which all Zambians can contribute. Buying and supporting locally grown, produced and manufactured goods is a critical driver of job creation and growth.
The Proudly Zambian Campaign seeks to promote standardisation and consumption of Zambian goods and services. Products registered under the campaign, go through a vetting process to ensure quality and compliance to the laws and regulations of Zambia.
