Zambian Breweries has implored beer-lovers to enjoy responsibly at home and avoid visiting bars and night clubs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Please continue enjoying responsibly in the comfort of your home. Do not visit drinking places in this pandemic. Bars and night clubs are still closed as a precautionary measure against the virus,” says ZB Country Director Jose Moran.
His call comes in the wake of reports that citizens across the country have been visiting bars and night clubs against government’s directive in March this year to have all drinking places closed during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Mr Moran emphasised the need to take government’s directive seriously following the spike in COVID-19 cases and emphasised the company’s #responsibletogether campaign to ensure customers enjoy responsibly from home.
“Starting last month, we have seen a surge in COVID-19 cases. This calls for us to take government guidelines against this virus very seriously,” he said.
Mr Moran stressed that the health and safety of customers and bar staff was paramount to Zambian Breweries.
“We are concerned about the health and safety of customers. It is for this reason that we urge them to enjoy responsibly at home during this pandemic,” he noted.
Mr Moran appealed to beer-lovers not to turn their homes into pubs while enjoying indoors during the pandemic.
“Enjoying responsibly at home does not mean inviting people over for drinks. It means enjoying your favorite beer alone, or with your spouse, as you listen to your favourite music or watch your favourite TV programme. It’s all about observing self-isolation,” he stressed.
Mr Moran noted that Zambian Breweries was hosting Mosi Vibes at Home online parties on weekends to entertain beer and party lovers.
“We have not left you at home without entertainment. As Zambian Breweries, we have Mosi Vibes at Home Parties to ensure that you have good music as you enjoy responsibly in the comfort of your home,” he said.
The country director was hopeful that things would go back to normal if every citizen worked together with government and adhered to public health guidelines on COVID-19.
“We believe that a time is coming when we shall thunder together outdoors without any public health restriction. That time will only come after we all fight COVID-19 together today by avoiding mass gatherings; be it at bars, night clubs or weddings,” he emphasised.
