Mosi Day of Thunder Makes a Thunderous Return

LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Zambia’s biggest & most anticipated music festival, Mosi Day of Thunder returns for its 5th edition. The Zambian Breweries sponsored event was first introduced in 2016, but has been absent for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The nation’s largest brewer, Zambian Breweries is excited for the return of the festival and is looking forward to pay homage to the nation’s heritage through celebration.

“We are excited to be returning this year bigger and even better after a two year long hiatus. Our vision for this event is to create more cheers and what better way to do it than through a celebration of music and culture,” Zambian Breweries Corporate Affairs Director said.

This year’s event promises to be an even more exciting celebration of the Zambian culture with the music festival’s concept derived from the iconic Mosi Premium Lager’s proposition of bringing Zambians together through music and arts at the home of the mighty Mosi-oa-tunya falls where Mosi gets its name from.

The annual event drives local tourism as thousands of attendees flock to the tourist capital to experience what it has to offer.

“We are keen for the festival to be an unforgettable experience and a driver of local tourism. This event has in the past generated public interest in the country and beyond our borders.”

“It is the perfect platform from which we can share the best that Zambia has to offer,” shared Zambian Breweries Head of Marketing Sibajene Munkombwe.

The 2022 edition of the festival is geared to deliver a truly homegrown spin with an only-local artiste lineup, showcasing and celebrating the finest Zed icons in music and the arts.

Explaining the choice of artists, Zambian Breweries Head of Marketing Sibajene Munkombwe said, “We wanted to stay true to supporting our local artists for this year’s festival. The festival aims to empower local artists by providing the MDOT stage as a platform for them to share their talent with the country and region.”

The nation’s largest brewer is also stepping up its innovation and letting consumers get a head start on the upcoming event with a QR code on the Mosi 375ml pack that they can scan to unlock 2022 Mosi Day of Thunder playlist.

2022 artists at DOT include Macky 2, Chanda na Kay, Bobby East, T-low, Natasha Chansa, T-Sean, Towela Kaira, Livingstone Slim The Hitmaker and other iconic acts including a host of DJs.

The road to the Mosi Day of Thunder will kick off with R&G Oktoberfest, serving as a curtain raiser on 8th October in Lusaka with some of the city’s local stars such as Slap Dee, Jay Rox, Mampi and others including some of the finest DJs, before heading down to Livingstone on the 22nd October, a good start to the long Independence weekend.
